Transcription

The resource contains a transcription, which is a written representation (orthographic or coded) of (aspects of) an audio or visual signal.

No transcription can represent completely or transparently the richness of linguistic interaction. The purpose for which a transcription is made will influence what is included or omitted and different traditions in linguistic research have different transcription conventions and practices. These issues are explored in a rich literature to which the following references can provide an introduction: Ochs, Elinor. 1979. Transcription as theory. In Elinor Ochs & Bambi B.
